Jim Henson A product and student of the Leicestershire School of Music, Jim started tuba with orchestras, wind bands and brass quintets. At 15 he became a founder member of the now internationally renowned Youthbrass 2000 under the direction of Chris Jeans and Steven Mead. A year later saw Jim joined the then championship section band The Ancient Order of Foresters with many prize wins including the French Open.
Relocation to near Coventry saw Jim join Rolls Royce Coventry band in 1997 where MD Dave Lea guided the band to its first ever appearance at the British Open. 1999 Jim took over the Principal Eb bass seat at NSK-RHP Ransome band where 9 very enjoyable years saw the band have many podium finishes at the National finals, British Open, All England Masters and an appearance at the 2001 Europeans. Relocation again saw Jim enjoy a brief time with BT band before finally joining the world famous Grimethorpe Colliery band, high profile concerts, recordings, world premieres, tv appearances, contest success and 2009 Europeans were all musically demanding but extremely rewarding. 2010 a switch to Faireys for 12 months which included podium finishes at the British Open, National Finals, Brass in concert and 2011 Europeans.
Whilst remaining in the uk, Jim was also a member of the world famous Wallberg band based in Switzerland from 2005-2011, a group of dedicated musicians from local 1st and 2nd section bands with a sprinkling of overseas players who beyond all belief managed to win the Swiss open in 2005.
Over the years Jim has played on many recordings, bbc, cd's, live broadcasts, tv appearances songs of praise, Alan Titchmarsh Show, etc..

2015 a long awaited move into conducting taking the position of MD at Dove Holes Band.
2016-2018, saw Jim become the MD for Bakewell Silver Band, before taking over the baton at Shirebrook Miners Welfare Band in July 2018.
